Are You Dressing Properly For Job Interviews? | The Odyssey

You have to dress the part to get the part. Don't know the difference between business casual and business professional? Have no idea where to even start? I've got you covered. Below is a list of all kinds of outfits that will suit you and your dream job.
Women's Attire
Casual: Means keep it casual! Dark jeans, nice sweaters, flats/low heels and ponytails will work just fine. No light washed denim, t-shirts or sneakers. Always wear clothes that fit properly, not too tight or too loose.
Business Casual: Kind of like casual but add blazers to outfits, wear blousy tops and add color! Nothing neon, but the two photos below are great.
Business Professional: Want to look credible and competent? These two feminine and powerful looks are nothing short of amazing. When picking out your own business professional look, always go with a heel and make sure it isn’t too high. Hemlines for any look should be a little above, at or little below the knee whether it is a skirt or dress.

Shoes and Accessories: Keep the accessories simple! Jewelry should be minimalistic, shoes should be a neutral color with a short heel height and handbags/briefcases can be big enough to hold documents but keep it timeless and invest in a good handbag and shoes. It’ll go a long way and remember how much you spend on these main staples is what you’ll get out of them.
Hair, Nails and Makeup: Hair color should always be a natural tone and if you are going to have fake nails or gel, then keep up with getting them filled/redone. No crazy nail colors or lengths, keep nails a pastel, pink, red or French style. Keep makeup natural and lady like, no crazy blue eyeshadow or neon pink lipstick.
Men's Attire
Casual: Khakis are great and so are jeans, preferably dark! A sport coat with jeans is a great pairing for casual; the two photos below are good guides. A tie with shirt or unbuttoned Oxford shirt with a coat is a great start.

Business Casual: This style can still be comfortable; you will definitely need to wear at least a sport coat. A suit jacket will work too. What’s the difference between a sport coat and a suit jacket? Sport coat is more casual for the office, like on a Friday, or weekends where as a suit jacket is more for business professional (Monday-Thursday) or special occasions.
Business Professional: For most interviews you will want to wear business professional. Trousers with a suit coat and tie is essential, when it comes to this category it is pretty straightforward.

Shoes and Accessories: Shoes, socks, cufflinks and briefcases are pretty trendy things and aside from personalizing a suit, shirt and tie these minor details can add up and can express your style. Shoes and suits are something you don’t skimp out on when it comes to cost. Just like when your suit fits right and you’re putting your best foot forward, same idea with shoes. Investing in a nice pair will go a long way just like the wingtips below.
Hair and Grooming: Make sure you have got a fresh haircut and shave. Eyebrows and mustaches need to be trimmed and well groomed. Nails clipped and all the dirt out from underneath them.
Making Sure Your Suit Fits: If you can help it, having a suit that fits right will be like stepping into the interview with the right foot. (Refer to photo below steps)
1.The shoulder pads end with your shoulders.
2.Your flat hand should slip easily into your suit under the lapels when the top (or middle) button is fastened. If you put a fist in, the suit should pull at the button.
3.The top button of a two-button suit- or the middle button of a three-button suit- should not fall below your navel.
4.With your arms at your sides, your knuckles should be even with the bottom of your jacket.
5.Jacket sleeves should fall where the bases of your thumb meets your wrist.
6.Between a quarter and a half inch of shirt cuff should be visible.
7. One inch of break.

4 things I learned in 2014

To everyone who has been following I'm embarrassed to say I haven't posted since 2012 but I'm really going to try and keep up with it! Bluebonnet Blonde has a new look and is feeling better than ever. It's crazy looking back at how much has happened in life especially since 2012! But to kick off my posts for the 2015 year I am going to list the 4 things that I learned in 2014:

1. Family is important. Cherish it. (I know we don't all look happy but we really do love each other)

2. Say your prayers before you go to bed. Nothing better than knowing Jesus is by your side.

3. Surround yourself with people who make you want to be a better person. Momma always said you're as good as the company you keep.

4. Dance. Life is too short to not have fun and we don't all make it out alive anyway so make the most of it.

#Classof2013

#Hashtag it. Highlight it. Circle it. Underline it....okay maybe double underline it...May 31st. May 31st isn't just any May 31st, it's graduation day (for GHS at least!). Something that is calling our names and is creeping around the corner wether any of us seniors would like to admit or not.
How would you define May 31st?
-Far away...
-Couldn't come any sooner!
-6 days after my 18th birthday!!
-Just another day in the books
-Get that awesome mini-deploma
or
-D-Day
I would call this prized day the end of a chapter. A chapter that is closing and where obviously a new one is beginning. For all of the seniors who read this we all know that SO much is going to occur in our lives between now and that bittersweet day. For some more events than others but just even the attempt to grasp the thought that I will be another year older, retire my FFA jacket, end my showing career as a junior, graduate the Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholar class, finalize my Clays for a Cause Charity Project, be accepted to college and so so so much more is dumbfounding.
The other day I had a senior photoshoot and mom started the water works watching me take picture with all my FFA jackets lined up. For her it was solidifying a page in her book and the "ah-ha" moment came that Area V Convention is around the corner, my jacket will be proudly hung on that wooden coat rack and I'll take my last walk across the stage with my officer team. Thinking about it know is unbearable.
So stay tuned to keep up with me in my last 197 days of being a high school student. I will have tons of pictures to share soon from the most recent photoshoot, so get excited because you can bet yourself I am!!

Wacky Wednesday!

AcKy WeDNeSdAy!

So the criteria of wacky was it had to be differnt, out of the ordinary...unique. This week I believe that this topic definatly fits under "out of the ordinary." I am obsessed with Popular Science...go figure right? Some of you do not know what it is and I encourage you to go buy it. It is just like another one of your monthly published magazines, except its based on futuristic ideas, problems, how they will be solved and trinkets and gadgets. The inner nerd in me just adores this mag and I am convienced to make you too. Hop onto the bandwagon because it is an addicting hobby.

If anyone knows me I am not a reader nor do I spend money on magazines...but I have made an exception! Here is the latest mag's cover!^^^^

If you are interested click on the link and see what they are all about!! It is a great way to stay in the know and keep up with the khaotic world and this is a perfect way to!

Life in the fast lane...

This summer has gone by way to fast!! Traveling profusely, whether the miles are on the truck, my feet or counted by air they were all spent well!! As this daunting senior summer closes so does most of my traveling. That is except for our family vacay!
Sitting here in the Admirals Club waiting on our plane has sunk in that A. senior year is right around the corner B. there will be many decisions made within the next year and C. how exciting this will all be and that I need to take advantage of all my opportunities. Talking to mom one thing she gabbed about was everything that was accomplished this summer! I'm not one to discuss what I do because that's not who I am but I was encouraged to put out there what was done so I am:) the best way to take you through the crazy schedule is to start when school was released! As soon as school was released I was headed to Bruceville/Eddy right outside of Waco at the Greene Family Camp for State Leadership Camp!! Not only was that an amazing experience but I have friendships that will last a life time!! While at SLC I was chosen to be co-chair on our State Issues team with Jackie Lee which was an honor!! Moving onto the next fabulous event, brought me back all the way up to Denison, Texas for our State Junior Shorthorm Show!! It was very successful and I was elected the TJSA 2012-2013 President and the 2012-2013 Lassie Princess!! Next June 11th/12th and the 18th/19th were our Area V Officers Area Leadership Camps!! Area V has the second biggest voting delegate power at state convention so we have numerous people that came through the wonderful camps put on by my fellow officers!! It was something that I was looking forward to this summer!! After that was all wrapped up I went right into my TJSA officer and director retreat in Grapevine, Texas at the Gaylord Texan Hotel!! Great memories and progress was made in educating my fellow teammates and myself!! Rolling right out of our retreat, I was headed to Grand Island, Nebraska for our National Junior Shorthorn Show!! I have always been told you will have fun but it was one of the best showsI have been to in my entire life!! It was great to have fellowship with surrounding Shorthorn breeders mixed with awesome food and fabulous competition! I did place 4th out of the Intermediate Showmanship division which was one of the highlights of my whole year. Knowing that my heifer, Lilly and I could do that was mind blowing and breathtaking:) Coming back from Nebraska there was no slowing down for me because I was off to Austin, Texas for my Ford Scholar Leadership training!! Being chosen for FLS is a high title in the FFA world. 10 of my colleagues (including myself) we underwent hardcore, intense, rewarding leadership training that has made me a better person today. We traveled to Austin, San Antonio, Brenham and Corpus Christi! I have made 9 friends for life that will be in my wedding. All I have to say is keep calm and merk on:) Ending the FLS training in Corups began our kickoff for our 84th Texas FFA convention!! Being an area officer at the state FFA convention has always been a dream of mine and it was finally coming true. Well it did and I wouldn't trade the experience for the world. It made my passion for this fabulous organization and my love for our awesome members that much deeper!! STCO was the time of my life and I can't wait for convention next year!!
Finally wrapping up with convention leads me right back to where I started and that's here in the airport waiting for our flight to Alaska!! So stay tuned for the results of the upcoming Alaska trip!! Thanks for reading~
